Sumac means "dark red", widely used as an acidulant in Arabic and in Lebanese cooking, the flavor of sumac is quite surprising as the deep red spice is reminiscent of fresh lemon juice. This sweet but sour taste is followed by an astringent powerful punch. Once the berries of the sumac wild tree are fully ripe we pick them, we harvest them with care, to be then dried, grinded, and stored in a cool place.

Sumac is perfect in salad dressings especially in Fattoush, for seasoning homemade hummus, and fatayer.
